Saturday’s Craft Fair: A Day Full of Challenges and Fortunes!

Craft Fair

Hello Friends!

If you have ever had a day where you could laugh or cry, you will identify with my experience at Saturday’s craft fair! Here is my crazy story of the highs and lows:

Let’s start with the bad news and end with the good!

Challenges:

To give you a bit of back story, I started the day exhausted because I did an evening craft fair the night before and got about 5 hours of restless sleep (my kids like to climb into our bed throughout the night). The day started off great, I got set up with no problems. I even made a few early sales. However, just then the wind started picking up. It was blowing right through the back of my tent knocking down my taller jewelry displays. It almost blew my tent away, too!

I spent the majority of the day fixing my displays, moving, rearranging and taping things to the table. It was just so frustrating!! I like my display to look as attractive as possible and I was apologizing about my battle with the wind all day long. Luckily everyone was so understanding.

At one point I had walked to the front of my booth and just at that time a big gust of wind blew my large mirror off its easel straight into my arms. I can’t believe I was there at just the right moment! Even a shopper came up and said, “Nice catch!” On top of that the wind knocked over my other easel holding a frame full of earrings, twice!

I started to panic at one point because I had lost a $98 necklace, one that is very time consuming to make. I wasn’t sure if it was the wind or theft. However, the vendor next to me found it behind my booth. Thank goodness.

Fortunes:

Even with the battle I was forced to fight with the wind, I had a day full of some pretty great things!

I did well with sales and made some people really happy with their purchases, whether for themselves or their moms.

  • One customer made me a connection to possibly get my jewelry in a shop!
  • I met a bride who might want some jewelry made for her wedding.
  • Someone wants to take a jewelry class
  • And I found the perfect Mother’s Day gift from a vendor next to me

By the end of the day I was happy, exhausted, wind blown, tired, achy, excited, frazzled, and either on the verge of tears or laughter. I packed up my car and headed to the ladies room. I tell you this because of the next part. I decided it was that kind of day so I looked in one stall, no toilet paper, I looked in the other, no toilet paper, I looked in the third….ooh toilet paper. I turn around and there is no toilet seat!!! I laugh and scream “AAHH! You have got to be kidding me”, while taking the toilet paper and moving to another stall.

All this and it was only 2pm!

I know that was probably more than you wanted to know, but I couldn’t pass up a blog that basically wrote itself.

So have you had a day where you could laugh or cry? What did you choose, laughter or tears? Tell me about it in the comment below!
