The Best Time to Purchase Your Bridal Jewelry

custom bridal jewelry, wedding planning tips

Many brides will wait until the last minute to select their bridal jewelry and accessories.

Does this sound like you?

This isn’t the best decision since you will be looking at your wedding photographs for the rest of your life.

Leaving the details of your bridal look for the last minute can result in settling for something less than perfect.

Use the below guidelines to assist you as you approach your big day.

Elements of your Bridal Look:

There are many elements that go into your bridal look. Knowing them can save you time, help you plan, and help you figure out what you want to purchase.

  • Dress and Veil
  • Sash/Belt
  • Make-up
  • Jewelry
  • Hair
  • Hair Accessories
  • Shoes
  • Flowers

This is a lot to coordinate, especially when you never really see all of them together until the day of your wedding.

Hopefully this isn't scaring you! The most important thing to remember is that you are marrying the love of your life, and you will look gorgeous, no matter what!

Here is what I suggest to make things run more smoothly and ease your mind.

Bridal Look Timeline:

The right time to pull your look together

  • While dress shopping or immediately after: Think about the kind of jewelry you want to wear while you are gown shopping and after you have purchased your gown. This is when the details of your gown are the most fresh in your mind. Does this include a necklace or just earrings? Did you have any jewelry thoughts while you had the dress on?

  • 4 Months prior: Purchase your jewelry and hair accessories. This will ensure you have them for any trials and fittings that you schedule, even if they are ordered online or are being custom made. Plus, it can eliminate the stress of trying to find something at the last minute.

  • 2-3 Months prior: Schedule your hair trial and bring all your accessories with you. Having the jewelry and accessories on hand will help the stylist create the right look and let her include the pieces in your practice run.

  • 2 Months prior: Choose your shoes + start your gown alterations. Don't forget to wear them around the house for the next couple of months to break them in!

  • Custom jewelry for bridesmaids has got to be the sweetest thing ever. I still regularly wear the bracelet my BFF gave me when I was her bridesmaid. It just broke last week, and normally I don’t care a whole lot about repairing broken jewelry, but this bracelet is priceless to me and I’m sending it in to a jeweler to repair it.
